We understand that children—even from the same parents, are different. They not only possess different personalities, interests and goals but widely contrast in the way that they make sense of and retain information. It’s interesting to observe the array of influences or stimuli that ignites children to open their hearts and embrace a concept, skill or learning activity to the extent that interest then becomes ownership.
As parents, we understand that each child is a gift. Within each of our gifts, there is an inner gifting or call based on the special and unique call or areas of calling as deposited by the Creator. Each child’s effectiveness and passion as it relates to vocation, ministry and day-to-day relationships are juxtaposed within their awareness and acceptance to walk in this call. This requires a parental instructional foundation based on the development, sensitivity and receptiveness to God’s plan that they may illuminate and guide throughout the instructional life of the child. Our plans therefore, become intertwined with God’s plan. As Jesus, The Christ-child, we desire that our children grow in wisdom, statue, having favor with God and man. Truths presented in God’s Word, therefore, become the foundational premise that guides learning.
Therein lies the premise for the information found in my book, In The Way They Should Go -Foundational Truths Which Undergird Approaches to Instruction That Guide Learning, Encourage Understanding and Enhance Student Performance. Truths are discussed wherein we are supplied insight or revelation into contributing factors associated with how students best learn.
